June 20, 2024 – CREW is thrilled to collaborate with Galway Culture Company to announce the launch of the Creative Practitioner Residency Programme, a unique initiative for creative practitioners working in the digital creative industries. This
programme will provide a dynamic platform for Galway-based creatives to collaborate, innovate, and contribute to the CreaTech ecosystem through the exploration of the theme Creative Communities.
The Open Call was announced in April, and four creatives have been selected for participation in the programme. Rocio Romero Grau, Conor Maloney, Jane Cassidy and Miguel Escobar will be exploring a diverse range of projects over the coming months, and will be hosting a series of Creative Talks throughout their residency to share more about their work.
The Creative Practitioner Residency Programme is set to host the four creative practitioners for a month-long residency, offering them the opportunity to engage with the CreaTech community, develop their projects, and showcase their work. Residents will benefit from access to workspace at CREW’s new Creative Enterprise & Innovation Hub, mentorship from industry leaders, networking opportunities, a bespoke seminar series, and a Creative Bursary funded by Galway Culture Company.
The programme will span across multiple disciplines, aiming to break new ground in creative expression, entrepreneurship and community engagement. Selected creatives will work on projects that not only reflect their creative visions but also explore the theme of Creative Communities such as the role of AI, Inclusion and Belonging, the future of Technology x Creative Practice.
Niamh Costello, CEO of CREW, expressed her excitement about the programme: “The Creative Residency Programme embodies our commitment to nurturing creativity and innovation. By partnering with Galway Culture Company, we are creating an inspiring environment where digital creatives can thrive, experiment, and contribute to the development of the CreaTech community. We look forward to witnessing the incredible projects and collaborations that will emerge from this initiative.”
Marilyn Gaughan Reddan, Chief Executive of Galway Culture Company, added: “Galway has always been a city that celebrates and champions the arts. This collaboration with CREW is a testament to our dedication to supporting and promoting creative talent. The Creative Residency Programme will not only enhance our offerings but also provide meaningful opportunities for creatives to engage with the entrepreneurial ecosystem in profound and impactful ways.”
